Enric Gibert
CEO and co-founder

Enric holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and an Executive General Management Program degree from IESE Business School. Enric was a research visitor at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and he worked for 10 years at Intel, where he led international teams from Israel, Germany, the United States and Spain in the fields of High-Performance Computing and Hardware/Software co-design. Enric is a co-author in 22 scientific publications and 19 filed patents and he was co-director of 3 PhD theses.


Javier Luque
CSO and co-founder

Javier is a full-time professor at the University of Barcelona (UB), where he leads the Computational Biology and Drug Design (CBDD) research group, and he has a broad expertise in computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry and Computer-Aided Drug Design software. Javier has authored more than 400 publications that have been referenced more than 15,000 times, has an h-index of 72 based on Google Scholar and accumulates 12% of the official references of MOPAC (the open-source QM package).


Enric Herrero
CTO and co-founder

Enric holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), where he obtained the UPC Award for Outstanding PhD Thesis. Enric was a research visitor at the University of California at San Diego and he worked for 3 years at Intel in the fields of machine learning and hardware acceleration. Enric is a co-author in 7 scientific publications and 17 filed patents and he was co-director of 1 PhD thesis.


Oscar Rey

Oscar holds a PhD in Computational Chemistry from Universitat Ramon Llull (URL) and an MBA degree from the same university. Oscar combines 10 years of experience in molecular modelling in academia and Spanish biotech companies in the fields of antibacterials, metabolic syndrome, and overactive bladder, among others, and 10 years of experience in business development in Europe and Middle East at Kern Pharma, Opko Health and Omnia Molecular. Oscar is co-author in 3 filed small-molecule patents.


Melanie Berg
Sales Director

Melanie is an Account Executive with 20+ years of business development experience targeting biotech and pharma organizations. She previously helped US-based company CambridgeSoft to grow the European market for ChemDraw and E-Notebook and ended up leading the indirect sales team- also in continuation when the company was acquired by PerkinElmer. Later, she honed her technology-based business development skills at Adlib Software and Omnius where she expanded the European market footprint of their AI-based SaaS technologies.


Javier Vázquez
Senior Researcher

Javier holds a PhD in Computational Chemistry from Universitat de Barcelona (UB). His thesis was co-directed by Professor Javier Luque and Enric Herrero. Javier accumulates 6 years of experience in computational chemistry and molecular modelling and he has been an active contributor to the development of PharmScreen and PharmQSAR since he joined the company. Javier is co-author in 3 chemistry publications and 1 patent.


Alessandro Deplano
Senior Scientist and Project Leader

Alessandro holds a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Cagliari and a Master Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the same university. Alessandro was a research visitor at the American University of Washington DC and did a post-doc at the University of Barcelona. Alessandro accumulates 4 years of experience in the fields of synthetic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and computational chemistry. Alessandro is co-author in 17 chemistry publications.


Albert Herrero
Senior Engineer

Albert holds a Computer Science degree from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), a MSc in Software Engineering from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and a MSc in Computational Engineering and Mathematics from Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). Albert accumulates more than 10 years of experience in software development and High-Performance Computing. Albert is co-author in 1 publication.


Fernando Martín
Business Development Manager

Fernando holds a PhD degree in Computational Chemistry from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and he did a post-doc in the NMR unit of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan applying molecular modelling techniques to epigenetic diseases. Fernando accumulates 3 years of experience in business development and product management in technology companies in the area of drug discovery. Fernando is co-author in 7 publications.


Lluís Campos
PhD. Student

Lluís holds a Biochemistry Degree from Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB), an MSc in Biomedical Research from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and an MSc in Bioinformatics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). At Pharmacelera, Lluís is developing his PhD in Computational Chemistry under the direction of Prof. Javier Luque and Dr. Enric Herrero. His research is focused on the study of predictive models for the ligand-receptor interaction based on hydrophobic descriptors.
